As part of the thematic day of ecology at the Russia exhibition and forum at VDNKh on February 8, a session "Water of Russia" was held. In a live discussion led by Roman Minukhin, Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the field of Water Resources of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, heads of regional ministries and representatives of the scientific community discussed the achievements, results and experience of the national project "Ecology", as well as an integrated approach to the conservation and improvement of water bodies.
As noted by Deputy Minister of Ecology of Tatarstan Egor Tarnavsky, the integrated approach that the republic applies to the implementation of measures within the framework of the national project "Ecology" allows not only to improve the quality of life of the population near water bodies, but also contributes to the development of territories, the investment attractiveness of the region and an increase in tourist flow.
The Deputy Minister shared with the seminar participants his experience in implementing projects with a scientific approach. In particular, before the start of the reclamation of silt fields, which accounted for about 42% of the polluted wastewater entering the Volga, the region carried out serious research work. At least 280 sludge samples and 218 soil samples were taken to find an effective method of operation, and 36 techniques were tested in search of a better solution. "The National Ecology Project, initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, allows us to solve the most global tasks and problems and contributes to the development of environmental transformations in the country. Over several years of implementation of the national project, more than 3 million residents of the republic have felt the changes for the better"
Roman Minukhin also noted Tatarstan's achievements. He cited the activity of the residents of the republic as an example: "All residents of the republic take environmental issues seriously. For the third year in a row, Tatarstan has been the winner of the rating of the All-Russian volunteer campaign to clean the shores of garbage "Water of Russia". Here, the clean-up campaign gathered about 322 thousand participants in 2023, who cleared 9 thousand km of the coastline."
The event did not take place without the presence of representatives of the scientific community. On the Day of Russian Science, Mikhail Bolgov, Head of the Surface Water Modeling Laboratory, Doctor of Technical Sciences at the Institute of Water Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spoke about options for reducing the negative impact of diffuse effluents. The speaker presented a special method for calculating the amount of pollutants entering water bodies with rain, which will be considered when planning work with important water bodies of the country.
Representatives of the new regions also attended the session. Thus, Acting Chairman of the State Committee for Water and Fisheries of the the People's Republic of Donetsk Andrey Sudin noted that the Markovnikov Beam watercourse has been restored, and work has begun on clearing the Kalmius River, which will continue in 2024.
In conclusion, Roman Minukhin stressed that all the experience gained and practical recommendations will be carefully studied and applied in future projects.
