Today, as part of the "Ecology Day" at the International Exhibition and Forum "Russia" in Moscow, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Interregional Association "Center for the Study and Conservation of the Snow Leopard "Irbis". The document was signed by Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Irbis Center Ali Uzdenov. The Agreement provides for the organization of cooperation in the study, conservation and restoration of the snow leopard population, as well as cooperation in the framework of environmental education.

In his welcoming speech to the guests of the exhibition and participants of the signing of the Agreement, Ali Uzdenov expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Republic of Tatarstan: "Thanks to Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, who raises the symbols and iconic things of the Republic to a new level - this is the snow leopard, unce. We are very pleased that our documentary "The Master of the Altai Mountains", which we presented in Tatarstan, was so highly appreciated. During the filming, our team was once again convinced that the leopard is a magnificent, truly royal animal, the patron saint of many Turkic peoples." Let us recall that in December in Tatarstan, with the participation of the Head of the Republic, a preview of the documentary "The Master of the Altai Mountains" was held. The general producer and author of the idea was Ali Uzdenov.

The cinematographer highlighted Tatarstan's special contribution to the preservation of the snow leopard.

Today's signing of the Agreement, including scientific cooperation, took place on the Day of Russian Science. As Lyudmila Poplavskaya, head of the project office of the federal project "Conservation of biological Diversity and Development of Ecotourism" of the national project "Ecology", noted, the signing of the Agreement is very significant, because the snow leopard is one of 13 animal species included in the federal project for the conservation of biological diversity of the national project "Ecology". "I hope that together we will definitely restore the snow leopard population so that this beautiful predator can live freely on the territory of the Russian Federation and other countries," she stressed.

Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov thanked the Irbis Center for the tremendous work being done to preserve and restore the snow leopard population and stressed that the snow leopard is a symbol of the Republic for Tatarstan. "It is significant that we are signing our Agreement on the days when Tatarstan celebrates the Day of the state emblem, the main symbol of which is the leopard," he said.

Let us recall that Tatarstan, on behalf of the Head of the Republic, together with the Republic of Altai, taking into account climatic features, is completing the construction of the Snow Leopard Biological Diversity Conservation Center in Altai. This center will be a continuation of the Ak Bars Center for the Study of Rare Species of Cats. The project, with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, was included in the federal project "Conservation of biological diversity and development of ecological tourism" of the national project "Ecology". The Agreement signed today will be a continuation of the implementation of cooperation on the conservation of the snow leopard population. In Russia, there are now only 75 individuals of these predatory cats in the wild.
