Operation Clean Air is nearing completion. Let us recall that it started in Tatarstan on June 1 and will last until the end of September. Since the beginning of the operation, inspectors of the territorial departments of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, together with employees of the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, have already checked 6,727 vehicles – these are 5,997 passenger cars, 359 trucks and 371 buses. The exhaust gases of 151 cars were found to exceed the standards for pollutants, which is 2.3% of all tested cars.
Today the inspection took place on the federal highway M7 – traffic police post "Malinovka". Environmentalists checked 18 cars. No violations were found. A similar operation took place today in Bavly. Inspectors of the Priiksky TA inspected 40 cars, of which 6 cars were found to have excess exhaust gases.
According to Nikita Maslov, head of the Atmospheric Air Protection Department, emissions control is carried out for vehicles with internal combustion engines running on both gasoline and diesel, as well as other modern fuels. Environmentalists check exhaust gases with a gas analyzer for carbon dioxide and hydrocarbon content.
"A lot of chemical pollution enters the atmospheric air from motor vehicles. More than 200 different toxic substances are formed in internal combustion engines, which come out with exhaust gases. The most toxic are carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, aldehydes, sulfur dioxide and soot," Nikita Maslov noted.
Inspectors of territorial administrations checked 5,515 gasoline-powered cars, 110 vehicles had excess emissions of pollutants in their exhaust gases. 851 cars were checked on the diesel engine, 39 of them had excess. 361 vehicles were powered by a gas engine, the inspectors revealed the excess of 2.
"In Kazan alone, the inspectors of the Central Territorial Administration checked 2,083 vehicles, of which 58 did not meet the required standards for emissions of pollutants in exhaust gases," says Safiya Safonova, senior specialist of the 3rd category of the Central TA.
"We recommend that owners of vehicles who have violations identified go to the inspection station, check the car, and also refuel at proven and high—quality gas stations," she added.
Let us recall that since 1994, according to the results of the operation, the share of vehicles with a high content of pollutants in exhaust gases has decreased by 10 times.
