Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko visited the construction site of the waste energy recycling plant in the Republic of Tatarstan today.
Accompanied by the Prime Minister of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin, Victoria Abramchenko got acquainted with the progress of the construction of the facility. Let us recall that in Kazan, the construction of a plant for energy waste disposal (PEW) was started in 2017 - simultaneously with the projects of four similar plants in the Moscow region.
At the launch of the project, the most efficient and widespread technology of energy waste disposal was identified for the creation of a PEW – combustion on a grate.
During the inspection of the facility, Andrey Shipelov, General Director of RT-Invest JSC, gave explanations.
"In fact, all the work related to the construction of the building has been completed, but there are problems with the equipment. Sanctions pressure does not allow Western companies to continue any commercial relations. Therefore, RT-Invest is negotiating with Chinese partners. According to the company's statements, Chinese partners provide the same technological solutions that Western partners provided. But we will have to make sure of this through the passage of a repeated environmental assessment. I can assure the residents of Kazan that we will not allow the construction of such a plant if the parameters that were originally declared and passed environmental expertise are violated… We will demand repeated environmental expertise," said Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko.
It should be recalled that initially the PEW in the Republic of Tatarstan was planned to be put into operation simultaneously with the facilities in the Moscow region until the end of 2022, however, the COVID-19 pandemic slowed down the process of construction and installation work at all facilities, and also increased the terms of approval of conditions for the supply of equipment for the PEW in the Republic of Tatarstan.
Today, work is being carried out at the facility in Kazan in accordance with the approved plan. All the initial permits are available, the foundations of the main premises have been completed, construction work is underway. As of September 2023, the construction readiness of the facility is more than 24%.
