Modernization of the isopropylbenzene synthesis plant, a raw material for polycarbonate production, has been completed at PJSC Kazanorgsintez. The official launch ceremony of the installation was attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Ecology of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SIBUR Leonid Mikhelson, CEO of SIBUR Mikhail Karisalov and CEO of PJSC Kazanorgsintez Airat Safin.
"We felt how transformations are going on not only in terms of the reconstruction of industrial installations, but also the creation of conditions for the team: medical care, meals, changing rooms. There is a great prospect in new directions," said Rustam Minnikhanov, opening a new modernized installation.
In the new production technology, isopropylbenzene is obtained on the basis of a solid zeolite catalyst that can work without replacement for several years. After this period, it does not become waste, but is returned to the manufacturer for processing. Thanks to the new technology, waste water is not formed, and more of the target product and less of the by–product - resins will be obtained from the same volume of raw materials, which is important for environmental safety. The renovation and reconstruction made it possible to reduce emissions into the atmosphere by 20%, as well as reduce energy consumption by 68%, which made production more modern and, as a result, environmentally friendly. The cost of the project amounted to 2.5 billion rubles.
