The order of the Ministry for the Protection of the Environment and Natural Resources of the Russian Federation as of July 18, 2013 under No. 248 “On tariff setting for burial of class 5 radioactive wastes for 2014” has come into force. The document has set the tariff for burial of class 5 radioactive wastes for an ordinary accounting regulation period, i.e. the year 2014.
Liquid radioactive wastes liable to burial at the points of deep-earth placement that formed before enactment of the Federal Law as of July 11, 2011 under No. 190-FZ “On handling of radioactive wastes and on making amendments to individual legal acts of the Russian Federation” belong to class 5.
As for radioactive wastes of other classes (1-4, 6), the tariffs are set for a 5-year period by the order of the Ministry as of March 13, 2013 under No. 89 “On initial tariff setting for burial of radioactive wastes”.
Subject to the indicated Federal Law, burial of radioactive wastes will be paid as per unified tariffs set in accordance with procedure defined by the Government of the Russian Federation.
Meanwhile, the organizations exploiting radiation-hazardous and nuclear-hazardous production units and facilities shall pay for burial of radioactive wastes by making quarterly payments, whereof the amount shall be determined based on tariffs for burial of radioactive wastes and their estimated amount in the current year.
The remaining organizations, whose activity entails formation of radioactive wastes, shall pay for burial of such wastes during their transfer to the national operator based on the actual amount of transferred radioactive wastes and tariffs for their burial.
