A clean-up day was held on the bank of the Zai River, organized by the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan

29 July 2023, Saturday

Activists of the youth movement "It will be clean", volunteers, divers, members of the RGS and just caring residents took part in the clean-up, which took place in the Nizhnekamsk district.

In a couple of hours, 60 participants collected more than 60 bags of garbage, including a large number of glass bottles, a couple of abandoned barbecues, plastic, a car tire and 2 fishing rods. At the bottom, divers found a classic set - these are bottles and bricks.

"The water is like steamed milk, I thought at least I would cool down a little, but no, 32 degrees above zero, at which it's not only collecting garbage, it's exhausting to move, but we succeeded doing the task," said Maxim Astakhov, a diver of the Russian Geographical Society in RT.

As the diver said, although the catch does not differ in variety, it differs in quantity.

"Dear vacationers and fishermen! We ask you to clean up the garbage after yourself.  I think, we can all agree that it is much more pleasant to be in the midst of pure nature than among the cluttered shores," Andrei Agarkov, Deputy head of the RGS in the Republic of Tatarstan, expressed his wish.
