Today, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan hosted a round table "Environmental assessment and monitoring of Volga tourist facilities: current methods and tasks". The event was held by the non-profit environmental foundation "Without rivers as without hands". The head of the Department of Environmental Economics and Project Planning of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan Galina Bochkova and the head of the Department of Environmental Monitoring of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan Elena Zakirova took part in it.
"Since 2018, the number of recorded excess pollutants in the Volga has decreased by 27.4%. This became possible thanks to the implementation of environmental measures within the framework of the federal project "Improving the Volga" of the national project "Ecology". This is the construction of biological treatment facilities in the village of Lower Elm, in the village of Vasilievo, reconstruction of the sewage treatment plant "Vodokanal" of Kazan and other events," Elena Zakirova, head of the Environmental Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, said in her speech.
She noted that 336 samples were taken from 2014 to 2022. According to the results of monitoring of the surface waters of the Volga, it was recorded that manganese and iron pollute the river the most. There were also found excesses in copper, phosphate ion, nitrite, BPK5, ammonium ion and zinc. Regular observations of the hydrochemical state of the surface waters of the Volga are carried out at 5 observation points. In addition, monitoring is carried out using the research vessel "Flamingo" in real time.
Galina Bochkova, Head of the Department of Environmental Economics and Project Planning of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, also made a report at the round table. She dwelt in detail on the project "Improvement of the Volga". In the republic, until 2024, the total amount of funding in this area is about 22.3 billion rubles, including 15.5 billion from the federal budget.
"On the territory of our republic, it is planned to build and reconstruct 13 treatment facilities and eliminate 2 objects of accumulated environmental damage that pose a threat to the Volga River," said Galina Bochkova, Head of the Department of Environmental Economics and Project Planning of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
In addition, within the framework of the federal project "Preservation of Unique Water Bodies", environmental projects for cleaning the shores of water bodies are implemented annually with the participation of the population. Let us recall that the Republic of Tatarstan in 2021 and in 2022 became the leader of the All-Russian campaign "Water of Russia" for the cleaning of coastal areas of water bodies by volunteers.
