AAPC of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan in Kazan has performed more than 580 thousand measurements since the beginning of the year

30 June 2023, Friday

From June 26 to June 30, two of the five automatic air pollution control stations in Kazan recorded exceeding the permissible concentration of pollutants in the atmospheric air.

At AAPC-2, located on Pavlyukhin Street 75, single hydrogen sulfide exceedances were recorded with a maximum multiplicity of 3.5 MPC in the west and north-west wind direction (wind speed – 0.1 m/s).

At AAPC-3 on 76 Maksimova St., short-term exceedances of the MPC for formaldehyde with a maximum multiplicity of 2.1 MPC were registered. At the moment of exceeding, the south-westerly wind direction was recorded at a speed of 0.5-1 m/s. The onset of adverse weather conditions of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Department of Hydrometeorology for Environmental Monitoring of the Republic of Tatarstan" for this period was not predicted for Kazan. Taking into account the analysis of the above-mentioned weather conditions and the territorial remoteness of the location of enterprises whose emissions contain formaldehyde, the Ministry's inspectors searched for a source in the immediate vicinity of the AAPC. A survey of the entire territory adjacent to AAPC-3 was conducted, the facts of repair and painting works that were carried out at the time of fixing the excess were revealed. The Ministry conducted repeated sampling of atmospheric air during the day. No excess of formaldehyde was detected. The excesses were also no longer recorded on AAPC - 3.

At the other stations of the Ministry, no exceedances of the MPC of pollutants were recorded over the past week.
