Almost 400 cars have been inspected by specialists of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan since the beginning of operation "Clean Air"

Today, employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, together with inspectors of the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan at the Malinovka traffic police post in the Verkhneuslonsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan, identified vehicles that have excess standards for pollutants in their exhaust gases. As part of the operation "Clean Air" with the help of a gas analyzer, environmentalists checked 25 cars, violations were detected in three of them. Let us recall that the joint operation of the Ministry of Ecology and the traffic Police has been held annually in Tatarstan from June 1 to September 30 for 40 years. The first such raids began back in 1983.

"From June 1 to June 15, 2023, inspectors of the Central Territorial Department of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan have already checked 373 vehicles. Violations were detected in 4 cars. In recent years, there has been a tendency in the republic to reduce the number of vehicles with an increased content of pollutants in exhaust gases," said Apollinaria Sattarova, senior specialist of the 3rd category of the Central Territorial Department of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan.

During today's raid, excess pollutants were detected in the exhaust gases of KAMAZ, a 2003 passenger car with a diesel engine and a 2021 car with a gasoline engine. The inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted explanatory work with the owners of vehicles whose excess was detected on the inadmissibility of violating air protection legislation.

"The largest share of chemical pollution of the environment by road is accounted for by exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. During its operation and fuel combustion, more than 200 components are released. Among the main pollutants are carbon, nitrogen and sulfur oxides, hydrocarbons, soot," said Nikita Maslov, Head of the Atmospheric Air Protection Department of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Last year, as part of the operation, ecologists checked 6,570 cars, 183 violations were revealed. It should be noted that since 1994, according to the results of the operation, the share of vehicles with an increased content of pollutants in exhaust gases has decreased by 10 times. This is due to the gradual renewal of the car fleet, the decommissioning of physically and morally obsolete cars, as well as the production and sale of motor fuel with improved environmental characteristics at gas stations. The inspection of vehicles as part of the operation takes place on the main highways, checkpoints and enterprises. The purpose of the event is to monitor compliance with the standards for the content of pollutants in the exhaust gases of motor vehicles and to prevent the negative impact of vehicles on atmospheric air.
