For 30 years, with the growth of GRP, air emissions have decreased and discharges of polluted wastewater have decreased

30 May 2023, Tuesday

For 30 years, with a 2.6-fold increase in the gross regional product, air emissions have decreased by 21.4%, discharges of contaminated wastewater have been reduced by 63.6%. And over the past three years, with a 32% increase in GRP, there has been a 1.4% decrease in emissions into the atmosphere and a 16% decrease in the volume of discharge of contaminated water into water bodies. This was announced today by the Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers.

He noted that many enterprises have taken a course towards openness. "Currently, the Ministry receives data from 9 AAPCS enterprises. We see in real time the air quality in the affected area of Nizhnekamskneftekhim and TANECO.  We see the impact of Tatneft's facilities in Almetyevsk. This is a unique case of open interaction between the largest enterprises and the environmental authority of the subject of Russia. Thanks to the constructive dialogue, Agreements have been signed, within the framework of which cooperation in the field of ecomonitoring is carried out. This year, such an Agreement was signed with Kazanorgsintez. They will install their AAPCS in the area of the Forward sports complex and will also transmit monitoring data to the Ministry," the head of the department said.

In the area of special attention is the quality of atmospheric air in the area of the Nizhnekamsk industrial hub. 66 manufacturing enterprises are concentrated here, which have 119 objects of negative impact on the environment. There are more than 5 thousand sources of emissions into the atmospheric air.

"According to the results of joint work, since 2006, Nizhnekamsk enterprises have managed to reduce the total amount of emissions into the atmospheric air by 35 thousand tons. The number of complaints from the population has decreased by 6 times since 2019. This is the main КPI of our work," said Alexander Shadrikov.

In total, more than 6.85 billion rubles were invested by enterprises of the republic in environmental protection measures in 2022.

Over 3.8 billion rubles were allocated by enterprises to measures for the protection of atmospheric air. So, for example, oil producing companies of Tatarstan utilize associated gas by almost 100%, with the established standard of 95%.

Enterprises have invested about 1.2 billion rubles in measures in the field of water resources protection.

The environmental effect of the implemented technologies was a reduction in the volume of discharge of contaminated wastewater by more than 47.9 million cubic meters.

The experience of Taneco is an example for all enterprises of the republic in matters of protection of water bodies. Thanks to the organization of circulating water supply and modernization of technological processes, it was possible to stop the discharge of wastewater into the Kama River. The volume of recycled water amounted to more than 6 million cubic meters. And modernization and optimization of industrial wastewater treatment processes at PJSC Kazanorgsintez has allowed saving 5.7 million cubic meters of Volga water over the past 3 years and reducing the content of sulfates in wastewater by 2 times.

Also, enterprises continue to work to improve the sphere of waste management: 1.9 billion rubles were allocated by enterprises for environmental protection measures in this area. The environmental effect was an increase in the volume of disposed waste by 48% over three years. Companies are implementing an integrated approach to waste disposal and recycling.

Thanks to all these environmental measures, by the end of 2022, the republic became the second among the regions of Russia in the ESG rating for the quality of environmental, social and managerial policy. According to the ecological block of criteria, the Republic of Tatarstan took the first place.
