Alexander Shadrikov is taking part in the X Nevsky International Environmental Congress in St. Petersburg today

The jubilee, X Nevsky International Environmental Congress is taking place these days in St. Petersburg.  Experts from the CIS countries gathered here to discuss issues of conservation and enhancement of natural resources, implementation of environmental initiatives and adaptation to global changes. Over two days, more than a dozen round tables and panel discussions will be held at the site. The Republic of Tatarstan was represented at the Nevsky Congress by the Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov. Today he took part in the round table "Water is the main resource of the future". The round table was hosted by Dmitry Kirillov, Head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources, and Sergey Mitin, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management. The key topics of discussion were: water resources as the basic need of humanity, water as a factor of modern economy and logistics. International transport corridor "North-South" and others.

Also, within the framework of the congress, the Head of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan has already met with his colleague - Minister of Ecology of the Republic of Bashkortostan Niyaz Fazylov and discussed issues of bilateral cooperation with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zulfiya Suleimenova. Alexander Shadrikov told his colleague about the main activities of the Tatarstan environmental protection Agency and about the territorial system of monitoring the state of the environment of the Republic. According to the head of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan, promising areas for cooperation are issues of the ESG agenda, decarbonization and achieving carbon neutrality. Zulfiya Suleymanova noted that the delegation from Kazakhstan intends to visit Tatarstan for further exchange of experience.

The Nevsky International Ecological Congress is held every two years. Among the objectives of the event are the improvement of legislation in the field of nature management and environmental protection, the development of dialogue and exchange of experience between representatives of public authorities, business circles, educational and research institutions, public organizations of the CIS member states.

The organizers are the Government of Russia and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, the Federation Council, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States, the Russian Environmental Operator.
