Today 45 bags of garbage were collected by eco-activists of Tatarstan as part of the campaign "Water of Russia".

Traditionally, on the Volga Day, the largest cities located along the main Russian river take part in the ecological marathon of the national project "Ecology" and clean the banks of household and natural garbage. In Kazan, a clean-up of the shores was held in the Admiralteyskaya Sloboda, more than 200 people took part in it. The campaign was also timed to coincide with the regional environmental week of the X Nevsky Congress.

Yegor Tarnavsky addressed the participants of the clean-up with a welcoming speech on behalf of the Minister of Ecology. As the Deputy Minister of the Environmental Protection Department noted, clean-ups are being held today in 15 regions of the country located on the banks of the great river. "The event is held within the framework of the "Water of Russia" campaign, over 9 years more than 8 million volunteers from all over the country have taken part in it. Of course, you are the key driving force of our eco-enterprises," Yegor Tarnavsky thanked all Tatarstan citizens for their participation.  "It is the activity of our residents that helps the Republic become winners among all regions of Russia in the campaign "Water of Russia" for the second year in a row. The main goal of this large-scale campaign is to instill respect for the environment and water bodies.

Traditionally, the clean-up of the Ministry of Ecology was supported by divers of the Russian Geographical Society. They cleared the bottom of the Volga River of accumulated garbage over the winter. As the divers said, the bottom was clean today, there was not much garbage, mostly they found a few bags and bottles.  Deputy Chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of Tatarstan Andrey Agarkov said that this year divers will continue to clean the bottom of our reservoirs so that Tatarstan residents can swim in peace and noted that all environmental campaigns are very popular in Tatarstan. Residents have always been concerned about the problem of the purity of water, forests and air.

The All-Russian campaign was held today in Kazan, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Tver and other cities of Russia.

In Kazan, volunteers and activists collected 45 bags of garbage, of which 15 bags are glass and metal, 18 are plastic. As all the volunteers noted, every year the banks of the Volga become cleaner and this cannot but please eco-activists.  On this day, the volunteers warmed themselves up with hot tea, field cuisine and the excitement of the competition.
