The Republican Open Field Olympiad of Young geologists has started in Almetyevsk
The IX Republican Open Field Olympiad of Young geologists has started on the basis of the children's recreation camp "Solnyshko" of the Almetyevsk district. Every year the best school teams from all over the Republic gather here, and this year 33 teams from Tatarstan and 1 from the Crimea take part in the competitions. During this week, 272 young geologists will prove their professional skills by competing with each other. The participants of the Olympiad are waiting for geological competitions: "Geological route", "Geological section", "Paleontology", "Mineralogy and petrography", "Hydrology", "Radiometry", "Fundamentals of safety", "Organization of field parking", "Petroleum geology", "Description of a geological monument". The winners will be determined in team and individual competitions. Young geologists who have demonstrated the best results will become participants of the fifteenth All-Russian open Field Olympiad.
The Republican Geological Olympiad among schoolchildren has been held annually by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan together with the Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Technologies of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University since 2014 with the support of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. One of the main goals of the event is to develop the geological movement, support and assist in professional self-determination among children.
