The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoy: “Geology holds promise for the future”

Today, theIXAll-Russian Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists held at the premises of children’s recreation camps “Solnechny” and “Zarechye” was closed. The Minister for Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoy, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Head of theFederal Subsoil Resources Management Agency Andrey Morozov, the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov, Director General ofОАОTATNEFT named after V.D. ShashinShafagat Takhautdinovparticipatedintheclosingceremony.

Duringhiswelcomespeech, theMinisterforNaturalResourcesandEcologyoftheRussianFederationSergeyDonskoy acknowledged that teams managed to see traditions, history and geological experience of this country and this territory, which give a lot of possibilities for further development. “During these 10 days you’ve gained a lot of experience and a lot of friends. Allinall, wehaveunexploredterritories and there are directions that we haven’t even reached yet — I mean both deep horizons and untraditional types of natural resources. Space is the one topic, in which, I am sure, you will be involved. There, we also have natural resources, and it is you who are going to make discoveries there and regard it as human evolution”, emphasized Sergey Donskoy. AccordingtotheMinister, the movement of young geologists is first of all based on experience. Interactionofexperienceofgeologistsof the Federal Subsoil Resources Management Agency, geological community – professional geologists – empowered to conduct this large-scale event. “Wehavethefutureaheadofus,andthisfutureliesingeology”, said theMinisterforNaturalResourcesandEcologyoftheRussianFederationSergeyDonskoy.

      In his speech, thePresidentoftheRepublicofTatarstanRustamMinnikhanovexpressed gratitude to the organizers and participants of theIXAll-Russian Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists. “Such an event allows to gather all those people who need to communicate and share experience with each other, the experience of elder companions. Thekeywealthofourcountryliesinpeopleand subsurface resources that we have”, said the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

       Fortyteamsfromthe Altai territory, Arkhangelsk and Amur regions, Bashkortostan, Buryatia, Voronezh, Irkutsk, Kaliningrad, Kemerovo, Kirov regions, Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk territories, Lipetsk and Magadan regions, Moscow City, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Omsk, and Orenburg regions, Perm and Primorsk territories, Rostov, Samara, and Sverdlovsk regions, Tatarstan, Tomsk, Tula, Tyumen, and Chelyabinsk regions, Chuvashia, Yaroslavl region as well as from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Tadzhikistan took part in the IX All-Russian Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists.

Topplacesin individual competitions were awarded to:

1 place–MariaMakhmutina, the “Junior Geological Party” team, Perm

2 place–Maria Shilova, Geological School under Moscow State University

3 place–YuliaPugovkina, national team, Tomsk

Team overall victory:

1 place– national team of the Perm territory

2 place– national team of Tomsk Region

3 place–Junior Geological Party No. 1, Perm.

TheXAll-Russian Open Field Olympiad of Young Geologists will be held in Tyumen in 2015.
