The third stage of accepting applications for the grant competition of student startups has started. Students whose applications will be recognized as the best will receive grants in the amount of 1 million rubles for the implementation of their project.
"Ensuring the technological sovereignty and economic security of the country are priority goals set by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Student Startup contest has become one of the tools for solving them. This year, 1.5 thousand students will receive funding of 1 million rubles for the implementation of their developments, which is 500 more than in 2022. We plan to strengthen support for young people: in 2024, 2,000 students will already be able to receive grants, by the end of 2030 — up to 30,000," said Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.
The competition is open to university students in bachelor's, specialist's, master's or postgraduate programs who are ready to develop a new product, device, technology or service based on their own scientific, technical and technological research with the potential for commercialization. A startup of a university student must necessarily rely on an idea containing his own intellectual contribution.
Participants of the contest need to choose any of the seven thematic areas:
- digital technologies;
- medicine and health;
- new materials and chemical technologies;
- new devices and production technologies;
- biotechnology;
- resource-saving energy;
- creative industries.
The selection is held until April 3, 2023. Applications are accepted from students and postgraduates whose projects are developed on the basis of their own scientific, technical and technological research and have the potential for commercialization.
The competition is held by the Innovation Promotion Fund within the framework of the federal project "Platform of University Technological Entrepreneurship".
