Clean Air Campaign

Today, inspectorsoftheMinistryofEcologyandNaturalResourcesoftheRepublicofTatarstanalongwithfellowworkersoftheAdministrationforthe State Road Traffic Safety Inspectorate for the Republic of Tatarstanconducted an ordinary raid devoted to the Clean Air campaign. Intheframeworkofthiscampaign,motorcarsandlorrieswereinspectedatthestationarypolicepost “Laishevo” using gas analyzer, i.e. measuring instrument for detection of qualitative and quantitative gas mixture composition. Itisworthnotingthattoday, motor transport is accountable forthegreatestpartof hazardous air emissions (more than 70%).  It is related to annual increase in the number of cars. Nevertheless, itshouldalsobenotedthattransitiontotheoilofEuro-4 andEuro-5 class, implementation of the program “Recovery of old cars in the Republic of Tatarstan”, as well as construction ofmulti-level junctions in Kazan lead to decrease in above-limit values. AsitwasnotedbytheleadingAdvisoroftheAirProtectionDepartmentunder the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of TatarstanAndrey Ermolaev, standard norms for motor cars depend on the year of production, as well as on ecological Euro class. Forexample, emissions of Euro 0 class considerably exceed values of Euro 4 class, since they are not equipped with special-purpose catalytic agents, which neutralize hazardous exhausts.

Clean Air campaign started in the Republic of Tatarstan on May10. Preliminary figures indicate that during this time fellow workers of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan inspected more than 2.5 thousand carson the highways, while excessive limitsof toxicity and smokiness were revealed with regard to 483 cars. Protocols were drawn up regarding violations. The fine amounts to 100-300 rubles.

Clean Air campaign will be held in the Republic of Tatarstan until October 1, 2013.
