Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov spoke today at the plenary session of the Conference "Nature Management and Preservation of the World Natural Heritage"

2 December 2022, Friday

It is being held in St. Petersburg as part of the International Forum dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

The Minister of Ecology welcomed all participants of the forum on behalf of the President of Tatarstan and took initiatives in terms of state regulation of interests in subsoil use and in other areas of nature management. In particular, Alexander Shadrikov focused on the fact that the balance of use and condition of water bodies currently requires special attention. Significant fluctuations in the water level in rivers have a negative impact on the ecological state of both underground and surface waters, which are a source of drinking water supply to the population.

The current situation and the need to reduce the negative impact on water bodies requires increased interaction with the scientific community to jointly develop a scientifically sound approach aimed at the environmental safety of the population when providing drinking water. One of the options for solving the problem in the future is the creation of special GTS – water depositories. They will allow both to accumulate water during a flood and to provide a supply of water in case of its shortage.

Also, according to the Minister of Ecology, special attention should be paid to the issues of digitalization, including in the field of subsoil use. The development and implementation of digital transformation in the field of environmental management, the platforms and programs being developed will reduce the volume of interdepartmental interaction and the number of errors that depend on the human factor.

For example, in the republic, the USAIS "Nedra" is being developed.

This project, among other things, will reduce the volume of illegally extracted minerals through labeling of raw materials with waybills registered in the USAIS "Nedra" system.

In addition, the issues of climate change and the importance of implementing a low-carbon development policy, as well as issues of preserving biological diversity, especially rare and endangered species of the planet, were touched upon.
