On December 1, the All-Russian ESG Forum "SO.ZNANIE" began its work in Nizhny Novgorod. The discussion platform was visited by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov and others.
The agenda includes discussion of issues of popularization of the principles of sustainable development in the regions of Russia, involvement of the country's subjects in the implementation of the ESG development strategy, maintaining the changes already achieved and the formation of a new model of cooperation between the state and business.
Opening the forum, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko noted that "ESG, of course, is a living agenda, because it begins with environmental friendliness, and environmental friendliness begins with the culture of interaction of society, man, society, state, business. It is very important for the Russian Federation to keep environmental issues within view. A large country, the first place in the world in terms of area, the second place in the world in terms of fresh water reserves. Of course, for us, the ecological path of development is a key issue."
During the discussion, Igor Komarov noted that the indicators defined by the Presidential Decree to assess the effectiveness of the activities of the heads of regions largely overlap with the ESG agenda. The Plenipotentiary Representative also said that under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, breakthrough projects of socio-economic development are being implemented in the Volga Federal District, most of which take into account the principles of ESG. These include creating conditions for cleaning rivers and reservoirs, providing clean water to the population in 5 regions (the Republic of Tatarstan, Orenburg, Penza, Samara and Ulyanovsk regions). "This suggests that, firstly, there are good pilot projects; secondly, regional leaders initiated such work, realizing the importance of this agenda," Igor Komarov said.
Let us recall that a pilot research project of the Ministry of Ecology for the rehabilitation of the Kazanka River is currently being implemented in the republic. Its high importance for the residents of the republic is evidenced by the fact that in the list of socio-economic projects of Tatarstan supervised by Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Russia Dmitry Nikolaevich Chernyshenko according to the results of the National Rating, as well as a survey on the website of the State Services of Russia, out of seven declared projects of the republic, this project took the first place. In addition, the project became the winner of the All-Russian competition for the selection of the best regional environmental practices "Reliable Partner – Ecology".
The project contributes to the achievement of the goals of the national project "Ecology" and can be replicated throughout the country in the future.
