The work of the Ministry of Ecology was highly appreciated by the country's leading scientists. The work of the members of the Consortium of Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences has ended in Kazan today

From November 29 to December 1, Kazan hosted a visit by members of the Consortium of Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences "Ecology of Industrial Cities", within which scientists of the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Organic Chemistry named after N. D. Zelinsky of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of General Physics named after A. M. Prokhorov RAS joined together to solve problems in the field of environmental safety.

At the Consortium meeting held on November 30 at the Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry named after A. E. Arbuzov KazNC RAS, attended by Minister of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov and Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Stepan Kalmykov.

The participants of the meeting stressed the relevance and importance of solving environmental problems based on scientific methods with the introduction of the best innovative approaches. The practice of such work in the Republic of Tatarstan was positively noted.

 "Great attention is paid to scientific development in the Republic of Tatarstan. In accordance with the priorities adopted in the Republic, when making managerial decisions, their scientific justification is decisive." – Alexander Shadrikov noted in his speech.

Let us recall that on December 12, 2019, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the N. D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the A. M. Prokhorov Institute of General Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Consortium).

The result of the agreement is the project documents prepared jointly with the Consortium, which are currently announced as part of the federal scientific and technical program in the field of environmental development of the Russian Federation and climate change for the period from 2021 to 2030, as well as as part of the formation of a comprehensive scientific and technical project in the direction of "Waste Treatment and disposal". The projects are supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia.

In addition, with the support of the scientific community of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Ministry has prepared a project "Improving the ecological state of rivers and reservoirs of the Republic of Tatarstan". Work has already begun on the pilot water facility – the Kazanka River this year.  

Employees and volunteers of the Russian Geographical Society and the Ministry of Ecology conducted surveys of the catchment area, hydrological studies, daily sampling of water during active snowmelt, and much more. Next year, leading scientific organizations, including institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, will join the collected data to develop a set of measures to improve the ecological status of the river. In the future, the results of the work are planned to be replicated to other water bodies of the country.

  Also, as part of the joint work, on April 21, 2022, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on global environmental problems. The subject of the Agreement is the establishment of long-term partnerships and the implementation of joint activities aimed at solving regional environmental problems and organizing comprehensive monitoring of the state of the natural environment on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Already, the largest enterprises of the Nizhnekamsk industrial complex have submitted applications for the development of research and development works (PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim, JSC TAIF-NK, JSC TANECO, LLC Nizhnekamsk CHP, a branch of JSC TGC-16 – Nizhnekamsk CHP (PTK-1), LLC TATSHINA)

Scientific developments relate to such areas as waste disposal, decarbonization, modernization of production facilities, cleaning of emissions and discharges.
