A meeting of the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan with activists of environmental social movements took place on Lake Izumrudnoye as part of the clean-up. At the meeting, Alexander Shadrikov presented a new project of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan on cleaning the Knox River.
"The Knox originates in the Pestrechinsky district, the total length of the river is more than 40 km, of which 21 km passes through the city of Kazan. At the initiative of social movements, we started design and survey work. We plan to include the project in the federal program as part of the preservation of unique water bodies. We want the river to bring joy to the people of Tatarstan. This is an excellent environmental project!" - said Alexander Shadrikov in his speech.
This year, specialists of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan together with scientists from the Institute of Ecology and Subsoil Use of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted a survey of the water protection zone of the river in Kazan. 91 facts of negative impact were revealed. The main problems are landfills, tree blockages, restrictions on free access to the coastal strip. At a meeting in the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan on the project improvement of the Knox River, which was attended by representatives of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Tatarstan Branch of the Russian Ecological Society, the Institute of Ecology and Subsoil Use of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and other organizations, an environmental assessment of the state of the river was given.
After careful study, the project is planned to be submitted for inclusion in the national project "Ecology".
"Now JSC TC Tatmelioration is developing design and estimate documentation for the cleaning of the river Knoxa, the cost of development is 13 million rubles. After receiving the relevant expertise, including the estimated cost, the exact amount of the clearing itself will be known," explained Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Egor Tarnavsky.
"The main goal of all our projects is comfortable living for residents of Tatarstan. And this environmental project will take a serious place in a number of eco-enterprises," the minister stressed.
