14 July 2022, Thursday

Today, the initiative group "Breathe, Kazan" visited the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The specialists of the department told the girls about the work of both stationary automatic air pollution control stations (AAPCS) and demonstrated the work of a mobile environmental laboratory.  Artur Vildanov, head of the environmental laboratory of GBU "Geocenter", elaborated on the equipment used for monitoring the state of atmospheric air and announced the list of substances for which the analysis is being carried out.  Elena Zakirova, Acting Head of the Environmental Monitoring Department of the Ministry, told where the department's AAPCS are installed and why they are located at these points. The girls asked how quickly complaints are processed if they come from the population, what is the service life of the equipment and in what mode sampling is going on. Artur Shakirzyanov – Deputy Director of GBU "Geocenter RT" answered the questions of how many requests are received by the Ministry of Air Quality, and where to contact in certain cases, because several departments at once monitor air quality. Activists watched online how the samples are analyzed and how all the data are reflected in the GIS Ecological Map of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Let us recall that today the Ministry of Air pollution analysis is carried out in a continuous mode with the help of 16 automatic stations for monitoring atmospheric air pollution (AAPCS), providing more than 4 million measurements per year for 36 pollutants. The Ministry also uses 6 mobile environmental laboratories equipped with automatic equipment similar to the equipment of AAPCS to promptly respond to the unsatisfactory state of the atmospheric air, including when citizens' appeals are received. In addition to monitoring the state of atmospheric air online, sampling is carried out manually with subsequent analysis in 8 stationary analytical laboratories of the Ministry. The data received by the Ministry are supplemented by the results of observations of air pollution at the AAPCS enterprises of the republic.

The Ministry has organized cooperation with large industrial enterprises of the republic: to date, the mutual exchange of data on atmospheric air pollution is carried out in a continuous mode  Ministry with PJSC "Nizhnekamskneftekhim", PJSC "Tatneft" and JSC "TANECO".
