This weekend, as part of the scientific project of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan to improve the ecological state of Kazanka, an ecological rafting was held.

In two days, 20 eco-activists, including employees of our department, overcame several difficult kilometers on two large catamarans, collecting garbage and clearing the riverbed from fallen trees. The route started from the village of Dachnoye in the Vysokogorsky district of Tatarstan, and finished near the Blue Lakes.

As the participants themselves say, these were very busy days – they had to saw through the rubble, disassemble, row and collect garbage.

During the first day of the expedition alone, the volunteers collected 135 bags of garbage. "There is a lot of garbage, the Kazanka is heavily littered with trees in places. There were areas where it was difficult to pass, but our team is united and we handled everything! The result of this work will be an improvement in the condition of the water and the river, and this, in turn, will improve the quality of life for Kazan residents living near the reservoir," says Vyacheslav Dolgov, head of the Department for the Protection of Water Bodies of the Ministry, to the participants of the campaign.

All the garbage was unloaded closer to the road so that the employees of Clean City LLC could take it out for disposal. On the second day, the volunteers collected 79 bags. "This format of the eco-conclave is not only a clean-up, but also an opportunity to communicate with like-minded people," says another participant of the campaign, head of the Legal Support Department of the Ministry Alexey Tkachuk:

The ecological rafting was organized by the Tatarstan branch of the Russian Geographical Society with the active support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Directorate of Parks and Squares of the capital of Tatarstan, the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on Biological Resources, the Youth Department of the Kazan Diocese, local self-government bodies of the Vysokogorsky Municipal District, the Regional Operator of LLC "MC "PZhKH". This year, the eco-rafting was held as part of a pilot project of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan to improve the ecological condition of the Kazanka River.
