Today Alexander Shadrikov took part in the round table of the Scientific Center for Eurasian Integration. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration of Russia, the Russian Academy of Sciences, including the head of the Center, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Global Environmental Problems Stepan Kalmykov. The Scientific Center for Eurasian Integration was established in 2013 with the support of the Presidential Administration of Russia to conduct interdisciplinary research, develop proposals and activities aimed at the development of Eurasian integration. The topic of today's meeting was the participation and opportunities of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of Eurasian integration in the environmental and humanitarian spheres.
At the very beginning, the participants of the round table discussed issues of Eurasian integration. Today, the main activity of the Center is the "Green Eurasia" program, the goals of which are to promote the development of a unified environmental and climate policy of the EAEU, the development of measures to eliminate accumulated environmental harm, greening the economy, adaptation to climate change. The work is carried out under the scientific and methodological guidance of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Global Environmental Problems. The participants of the round table showed interest in the projects of the Republic of Tatarstan initiated for inclusion in the federal scientific and technical program (FSTP), as well as in the application for a comprehensive scientific and technical program (CSTP). In particular, the Republic of Tatarstan has announced two projects in the FSTP: "Ecology of industrial cities" and "Development of a cartographic basis for calculating the sequestration potential of the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan".
The project "Ecology of Industrial Cities", developed by a Consortium of Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Ministry of Ecology, includes a complex of high-tech technological works in the field of air purification, utilization and decarbonization of gas emissions; natural and wastewater treatment; solid waste disposal and soil purification and analytical environmental monitoring.
The second project prepared by KFU and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan in the direction of carbon neutrality and decarbonization is "Development of a cartographic basis for calculating the sequestration potential of the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan". During its implementation, a digital map will be obtained reflecting the types of natural and anthropogenic modified ecosystems in relation to their ability to capture or emit greenhouse gases. Currently, carbon neutrality is a global trend, and the ESG agenda is becoming more and more relevant precisely in the context of the direction of development of cooperation with Eastern countries. The development of the Russian market for the circulation of carbon units is also gaining momentum.
Speaking at the round table, Alexander Shadrikov spoke about these and other projects and stressed: "Today it is important that all jointly developed projects find support at the federal level and be implemented. I am sure that in the future we will jointly expand the area of interaction with the scientific community. In all spheres, be it ecology or economics, dialogue with science is important. Only with such a symbiosis will we be able to implement many more projects, including in the context of global challenges, where solving problems without scientific support is simply impossible."
It is symbolic that today Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the initiative to declare May 29 as the Day of the Eurasian Economic Union. "We fully support the prepared decision to declare May 29 as the day of the Eurasian Union. Thus, a new significant date will appear on the calendar, uniting our peoples and symbolizing the common commitment of the EAEU states to integration building," the head of state noted
