According to Roshydromet, the total inflow in March was 107% of the norm. The flood on the Volga and Kama was delayed for a week due to weather conditions. Now the reservoirs of the Upper Volga and Kama are being filled. Cheboksary, Nizhnekamsk, Saratov are working in the mode of maintaining levels at the upstream – they pass water in transit. The inflow forecast for April in the cascade as a whole is 47-67 km3, with a norm of 65.9 km3. The Sheksninsky reservoir will be filled more intensively than others – 108%, Rybinskoe – 98% and Kamskoye – 126%, the remaining tanks will receive less than normal water. The total inflow in the second quarter is expected to be in the range of 136-166 km3, which is 95% of the norm. April in the entire catchment area is expected to be half a degree-a degree warmer than normal. Precipitation is predicted to exceed the norm in 90% of the territory. Taking into account the current hydrological situation, Rosvodresurs is proposed to start a special launch on the Lower Volga on April 19. The costs at the two most powerful hydroelectric units of the cascade will gradually increase every day. They will reach their maximum at the Kuibyshev reservoir on April 26, and at the Volgograd reservoir on April 28.  "In the agreed modes, the waterworks will operate until April 30 inclusive. We will clarify further parameters of the special permit at the next meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group, it will be held in the last days of the month. The primary task now is to provide an agricultural shelf. And at the beginning of May, a gradual reduction of discharges will begin, which is already necessary for fish," said the deputy head of Rosvodresurs Vadim Nikanorov. It is planned to complete the special launch by mid-June, and by the end of the 2nd quarter, the reservoirs of the Lower Volga should be filled to levels close to the normal head water level (NHWL). Let us recall that the decision on the modes of operation of hydraulic units for the next two weeks was made at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on regulating the modes of operation of reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade. Decisions were made taking into account the positions of Rosrybolovstvo, Rosmorrechflot, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and all regions of the cascade.
