Now enterprises have the right to implement climate projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions (for example, projects to modernize production and emission purification systems), or increase their absorption (landscaping and planting forests). After the completion of the climate project, the results of its implementation are subject to verification by the authorized body. Innopolis University is accredited as a greenhouse gas validation and verification body in the Republic of Tatarstan. After passing the verification stage, the contractor of the climate project receives carbon units to his account in the register of carbon units.
For reference:
A carbon unit is a quantitative result of a climate project, that is, a specific amount of emission reduction based on the results of the implementation of a climate project. The carbon unit means the amount of greenhouse gases equivalent to one ton of CO2.
Carbon units are recorded in the register of carbon units, which is created and maintained by a special operator appointed by the Government of the Russian Federation. In fact, the register of carbon units performs the function of a trading platform where accounting, circulation and repayment of carbon units take place.
