PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim (part of the SIBUR Group) is one of the largest petrochemical enterprises in Europe and occupies a leading position among domestic producers of synthetic rubbers, plastics and ethylene. In February, Nizhnekamskneftekhim signed an agreement with Rosprirodnadzor on the implementation of environmental measures worth more than 6 billion rubles. Over the period from 2001 to 2020, the company has allocated more than 13 billion rubles to environmental programs in order to minimize the impact on the environment. For example, since 2001, output has been increased by almost 2 times, while emissions have decreased by almost 47%. Now the NKNKH has started implementing the V Environmental Program. The planned costs until 2025 amount to 12.5 billion rubles. Among the major events - the III stage of the reconstruction of the BTP, the construction of 4 lines of the water pipeline, local treatment facilities of the plant and the reconstruction of the landfill of industrial waste. Due to these measures, it is planned to reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere by 1.4 thousand tons, reduce wastewater discharges by 13.99 million cubic meters. A new modern ethylene complex EP-600 is also under construction, where a smokeless flare system will be installed. The EP-600 complex corresponds to the best available technologies of the Russian Federation and the European Union in the following parameters: the amount of pollutants in emissions, water consumption, as well as the amount of waste generation, which per ton of ethylene produced will be only 1.5 kg, which is 4 times better than the indicators achieved at European enterprises. In addition, work is underway in terms of environmental education of the population: in 2021, 24 excursions were conducted, 696 people visited the enterprise, 6 recycling kiosks were installed in schools, 1,585 kg of PET bottles and 135 kg of aluminum cans were collected.
As part of environmental protection measures, the company's employees planted almost 200 thousand seedlings and released 125 thousand sterlet fry into the reservoirs of the republic.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim became the winner of the XVII All—Russian competition "Leader of environmental activities in Russia - 2021". The company took three nominations at once: "For environmental responsibility", "The best environmentally responsible city-forming enterprise", "Environmental management and waste management in industry".
