Regulation of the modes of operation of reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade was discussed via videoconference

Today, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov took part in the meeting of Interdepartmental working group on regulation of the modes of operation of reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade via videoconference.

The meeting, organized by the Federal Agency for Water Resources, was also attended by representatives of JSC Tatenergo, Roshydromet, RAO UES of Russia, PJSC RusHydro, executive authorities of the Republic of Mari El, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Volgograd, Astrakhan regions and other regions of the Volga region.

The meeting discussed topical issues of establishing the operating modes of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade for the period from November 11 to December 10 this year.

Minister of Ecology A. V.  Shadrikov voiced the position of the Republic of Tatarstan - it is necessary to reduce discharge costs through the Kuibyshev reservoir hydroelectric unit from the value of 4700 cubic meters. m/s up to a value of 3400 cubic meters. m/s in accordance with the current Rules for the Use of Water Resources. This is necessary to stop the further decrease in the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir and to accumulate water resources. This proposal was actively supported, including during the voting, by representatives of the Republic of Mari El, Ulyanovsk and Samara regions and JSC Tatenergo. 

Taking into account the interests of all subjects of the Volga region, RAO UES of Russia, PJSC RusHydro, Rosvodresurs proposed to reduce water consumption through the Kuibyshev reservoir hydroelectric unit to the value of 4400 cubic meters/s.

The established modes will be published on the Rosvodresurs website.

The next meeting of the IWG is scheduled for December 9, 2021.
