Air pollution control in Nizhnekamsk and Nizhnekamsk district has been strengthened

22 October 2021, Friday

In Nizhnekamsk and the district 4 out of 5 automatic stations for atmospheric air pollution control (ASAAPC), as well as the mobile ecological laboratory (MEL) were re-equipped with the most modern environmental analytical equipment for determining the concentrations of formaldehyde. In addition, one ASAAPC has been retrofitted with equipment for the determination of ethylene oxide, a hazard class II substance present in the emissions of enterprises.

The stationary laboratory of the Environmental supervision Department of the Zakamsky Territorial Administration of the Ministry has also been retrofitted. A new complex for measuring concentrations of volatile organic substances in the air has been installed here, and a portable gas chromatograph has been purchased for on-site control and supervisory activities. It allows one to determine the concentrations of 59 pollutants in the atmospheric air and in industrial emissions.

The decision to allocate 35 million rubles for retrofitting stations and laboratories was made following a meeting of an interdepartmental working group led by Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin.

It should be recalled that Nizhnekamsk is a large industrial city and such retrofitting of ASAAPC and MEL is timely and necessary, because given that the list of substances to be determined in the atmospheric air has expanded, the number of measurements carried out for supervisory activities will also increase significantly.

Reference: In Nizhnekamsk and Nizhnekamsk Municipal District of the Republic of Tatarstan, a territorial monitoring system (TMS) has been formed, consisting of 5 automatic stations for monitoring atmospheric air pollution (ASAAPC) and 1 mobile environmental laboratory (MEL). ASAAPC and PML are equipped with modern ecological and analytical equipment that provides the determination of 36 pollutants and 5 meteorological parameters. More than 1 million measurements are carried out annually by the continuous monitoring system.
