Excursion of Young Ecologists

Within the framework of the Year of environmental culture and protection and the Day of environmental education, listeners of the Young Ecologist School of lyceum No. 5 of the city of Kazan and their parents visited Volga-Kama National Biosphere Reserve. Environmentally educating excursion was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Pupils visited the arboretum of the reserve. Victor Ivanov, the Head of the arboretum of the Volga-Kama Reserve, told about the history of the nature sanctuary. The exposition was created based on the geographical principle, i. e. all plants are exposed in three sections: “America”, “Europe”, “Asia”. The pupils were also told about the rarest species of plants in the world. Elena Unkovskaya, the Deputy Head for Management, Environmental Education and Tourism, gave visitors a fascinating tour about the Museum of the Nature. Besides, the reserve collection includes more than 50 stuffed animals which are presented in their native habitat. In the course of the excursion young ecologists could find answers to points of their interest.
Elena Gilmizyanova, the Principal Adviser of Informational and Analytical Activity Directorate of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, presented gifts from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources of the Republic of Tatarstan to all activists of the Young Ecologist School.
