The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov took part in the meeting via videoconference with the Federal Agency for Water Resources, as well as representatives of AO Tatenergo, Roshydromet, Rosrybolovstvo, RAO EES of Russia, PAO RusHydro, executive authorities of the Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Volgograd and Astrakhan regions.
During the event, the issues of establishing the operating modes of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade for the period from August 11 to September 10 were discussed. At the meeting, the data of the Federal Hydrometeorological Service on the reduction of the total water inflow to the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade were announced. So, in July, the inflow was 67% of the norm (9.7 cubic km with a norm of 14.5 cubic km), in August it is predicted to be 10-40% below the norm.
In the conditions of the ongoing dry period, the resources of the Kuibyshev reservoir, as the main flow regulator of the entire Volga-Kama cascade, are used for the purposes of the energy system and to cover the water shortage of the Lower Volga.
The Republic of Tatarstan has requested the Federal Water Resources Agency to reduce discharge costs through the Kuibyshev reservoir hydroelectric complex to reduce the intensity of the reservoir level development. The operating mode of the Kuibyshev reservoir hydroelectric unit, adopted at the meeting of the IWG, assumes a reduction in the average discharge costs for the period from a value of 5300-5500 cubic meters/s to a value of 5000-5200 cubic meters/s.
Following the results of the meeting, the approved modes of operation of reservoirs will be published on the the Federal Water Resources Agency website (http://voda.mnr.gov.ru/activities/list.php?part=37).
