Rustam Minnikhanov: “People who take the liberty to dump the rubbish should be slapped on their wrists”

For the violations in the field of waste management in the Republic of Tatarstan, punitive sanctions have been amerced to the amount of 7 million rubles. Such information was vocalized by the Minister for Ecology andNatural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov during the meeting at the Government House with participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Artem Sidorov summarized the results of the first month of a two-month sanitary and ecological campaign that started on April 15. According to him, municipalities conducted great work with regard to cleaning and beautification of the territories, and many Saturday and Wednesday cleaning campaigns were organized.
During the first month, more than 191 thousand cubic meters of waste were removed tothe landfill, andmore than 400 thousand citizens of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the cleanup.
In general, 3804 violations in the field of waste management were revealed in the Republic of Tatarstan. Following the results of the violations, 2300 administrative protocols were drawn up. Moreover, 99 companies and organizations, and 498 officials were held liable for the committed violations. Case files of companies who committed grossest violations were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office with regard to 30 facts. Punitive sanctions were amerced to the amount of 7 million rubles.
All in all, 751 sites of unauthorized waste storage were revealed, whereof 302 have already been liquidated.
On May 15, a republican ecological and educational campaign “Unified Ecological Lesson” will be held at every educational establishment with cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan.
On May 18, a traditional Day of Forest Planting will be organized by the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, in his turn, asked to continue the work on sanitary cleaning of the territories. “It’s the culture. People who take the liberty to dump the rubbish into forests and ravines should be slapped on their wrists”, he concluded.
