Reading conference devoted to the 185th anniversary of the Great Russian writer Lev Tolstoy

On April 16, 2013 a reading conference “With love to the mother nature” was held at the assembly hall of the Republican Juvenile Library and it was devoted to the 185th anniversary of the Great Russian writer, thinker and philosopher Lev Tolstoy and the nature theme in his work. The conference was held in the framework of the Year for Environment-oriented Culture and Nature Protection.
Elena Gilmizyanova, Senior Councilor of the Department for Promotion of Ecological Awareness and Interaction with Public Organizations under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the event and made a speech on the state of natural resources and nature protection in the Republic of Tatarstan. She told about the work of the State information system “People’s control” and gave the hotline number where one can call and inform on detection of unauthorized waste deposits. Elena Gilmizyanova urged to take active part in environment-oriented contests, campaigns and told about the upcoming issue of an environmental magazine for children.
Fellow workers of the library conducted a republican sociological research among young people “There is less and less of nature while more and more of environment”. Today, the received materials are being processed. The results of the research will be submitted to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The events conducted by the Republican Juvenile Library in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan on promotion of ecological awareness among the population are aimed at fostering of careful attitude towards nature and shaping of the ecological culture of younger generation.
