The World Day of Water Resources

In the framework of the Year of Environment-oriented Culture and Nature Protection, the republican ecological and educative campaign “Unified Ecological Lesson” that coincides with the World Day of Water Resources was held in educational establishments of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The Campaign was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Department of Water Resources for the Republic of Tatarstan of the Lower Volga Sub-basin Water Administration under the Federal Agency of Water Resources, and the regional department of the All-Russian Public Association “Russian Geographical Society”.
All in all, the “Unified Ecological Lesson” was held at more than 200 educational establishments of the Republic of Tatarstan.
At the vocational school No.5 of Vakhitovsky District of Kazan, the lesson was given by the Leading counselor of the Administration for Information Analytics under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Elena Gilmizyanova. Pupils of the 1st to 4th forms, as well as students of the school of a young environmental specialist prepared cultural and educational performance. The lesson was held in the form of a discussion. Great attention was paid to preservation of water resources of the motherland. Pupils presented their ecological projects and ideas devoted to preservation and protection of water facilities of the Republic of Tatarstan, and they also prepared a concert program regarding water.
Deputy Head of the Tatar Regional Department of the All-Russian Public Organization “Russian Geographical Society”, a scientific diver, an instructor of the Underwater Sports Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan, and a professional life-saver Andrey Fillipov visited young environmental specialists. He told the pupils about exploratory surveys of the Russian Geographical Society, in particular, about the latest expedition – submergence into one of the coldest water bodies of the world - lake Labynkyr, located in the underinvestigated and hard-to-get district of Yakutia. Participants of this expedition hit the record submerging in the water of 50 meters in depth at extremely low temperature. According to the life-saver, research of the bottom, flora and fauna of Labynkyr as well as hydraulic system studying in the conditions of eternal frost were the main tasks of the expedition.
Representatives of small business also took part in the campaign. Following the results of the lesson, the most active class of the lyceum was presented with a large bottle of water and a cooler by the “Zdorovaya Zhizn” Company, LLC, producing and delivering drinking water “Sestritsa”.
Ecological and educational campaigns were also organized that day at the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, where teachers and specialists of the Ministry made children with disabilities related to eye-sight aware of the museum funds.
Moreover, an excursion for pupils of Kazan IT-lyceum took place in the central specialized laboratory of analytical monitoring of the Ministry.
In the course of the excursion children visited the department of the analysis of production emissions, air, water, and soil, physicochemical methods of analysis, biological monitoring, operational supervision where chiefs told in detail about their activity, showed working equipment and devices compliant with modern standards and intended for water, soil, and air research. Experts demonstrated procedures of samples selection and fixing to the pupils. Mobile ecological laboratories on the basis of the Ford Transit car were also demonstrated to the pupils. By means of this car operational recording of air, water or soil pollution is carried out.
