In the framework of the Year of Environment-oriented Culture and Nature Protection, the Republican Humanitarian Forum “Bells toll: listen, people” was held at Kazan State University of Culture and Arts organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Institute of Problems of Ecology and Subsurface Resources Management under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, United Nations Association of Russia and UNESCO World Culture Institute.
Never-ceasingbelltolling. The work of the forum began right on this calling-to-action note uniting heads of ministries and administrations, representatives of public organizations, teachers and students of higher educational establishments of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Deputy Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Ramil Nizamov made an opening speech. He thanked the organizers and participants of the event for active engagement in the field of ecological culture and enlightenment. Ramil Nizamov noted that environment-oriented culture mainly depends on the culture of management and experts and that is why the Republic of Tatarstan is actively involved in training and enhancement of the quality of work of young specialists. Deputy Minister also urged the youth to steer toward ecologically friendly outcome both in the framework of conducted events and on a day-to-day basis suggesting ecological projects and generating ideas on beautification of nature of their motherland.
Forum importance is mainly determined by the fact that in some way it is a “response” to challenges and threats related to the climax of the global ecological crisis. Forum is a starting campaign destined to actualize environment-oriented agenda among young people, as well as to mobilize intellectual potential required to solve the problems during 2013. According to the organizers, solution of ecological problems is dependent on enhancement of culture, education and upbringing of young generations.
An agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, district administrations, higher educational establishments and other organizations was signed in the framework of the forum, and an “Appeal to young generations of the 21st century” elaborated by the ecological club “ECOS” was adopted urging to take active part in enhancement of ecological well-being of the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the final part of the forum, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan was awarded with a diploma and the winner’s cup in the framework of the international contest “Russia – UN: 65 years of partnership”.
