Participants of the III Republican contest “I choose the village” were awarded

In the framework of the Year of Environment-oriented Culture and Nature Protection, the III Republican contest of scientific and research, project and creative pieces of art of pupils “I choose the village” was held in Zelenodolsk district at Kurguzinsk Secondary School. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Department for Geographic and Ecologic Education under the Institute of Ecology and Geography of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, the Institute of Pedagogics and Psychology under Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Republican Environmental and Biological Methodological Center of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, Kazan State Agricultural University and Institute of History named after Sh. Mardzhani under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan were the organizers and the principal commission of the contest.
Main aims of the contest included enhancement of prestige value of agricultural professions among youth, development of communications between state offices and educational establishments regarding issues of village revival, formation of the concept of agricultural worker in the eyes of pupils as a successful person who participates in implementation of the main social, economic and environmental-oriented republican programs.
Pupils of 9-11 forms and teachers of secondary schools of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the contest. Pieces of work were presented in the following categories: “If there is village, there is me!”, “A village house”, “Agricultural profession” and “Environment and nature management of the homeland”, where the experts of the Central Territorial Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan participated as the members of commission. Seventeen environment-oriented pieces of work were presented, and most of them were scientific and research works. Children generated a lot of ideas regarding beautification of their Republic. They conducted researches and experiments on school grounds, streets of the city and villages. They were especially interested in the matters of sorting and recycling, pollution of air, rivers and water bodies, spring, forests and so on. It is nice to know that besides asking these questions they also tried to find the ways to solve them. The best pieces of work were awarded with diplomas, Red books and environment-oriented literature.
The contest “I choose the village” is a tradition, and the organizers plan to expand it in future. According to them, it is a unique opportunity to promote career guidance among graduates, popularization of professions and demonstration of their social significance.
