The ХIII Ecological Forum of Pupils “Zilant”

The ХIII City Ecological Forum of Pupils “Zilant” was held at School No. 86 of Sovetsky District of Kazan City with advanced studying of certain subjects in the framework of the Year of Environment-oriented Culture and Nature Protection in the Republic of Tatarstan. In 2013, the Forum “Zilant” was organized by the Central Territorial Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan,Kazan City Department of Education, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University,and Kazan City Children’s Environmental and Biological Center.
The Forum presents annual results of the work of pupils on “Zilant” project that has existed since 2001 as a way to introduce consistent approach to environment-oriented education and upbringing, use of various methods and modes of teaching, and fostering of pupils, as well as formation of the single information spacewith regard to environment-related education.
“Human Health and Ecology” was announced as the theme of theХIIIEcological Forum. Traditionally, it covered five trends: field of research and development, fine and applied arts (express exposition of photos, drawings and applications), public awareness campaigns (literary activity and mural newspapers), institutional and public events (contests of propaganda teams) and nature protection events. Pupils presented their projects, demonstrated skills and talents of novice environmental specialists. Their work was evaluated by professional jury including teachers, students and representatives ofenvironment-oriented authorities.
According to the organizers, the forum was mainly aimed at formation of environment-oriented mindset in the younger generation andpre-profile training with regard to environmental and biological specializations. Winners and runners-up of the forum contests will be awarded in the framework of the Environmental Marathon in April 2013at Kazan City Children’s Environmental and Biological Center.
