“Environmental and Food Supply Security” Round Table

Today within the framework of “Health and Safety” section work of the Republican Youth Forum – 2012, the Round table on “Environmental and Food Supply Security” took place in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, with the participation of Andrey Kalayda, the Deputy Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan for environmental protection.
The authors of the projects on “Ecological and Food Supply Security” of the “Health and Safety” section, the staff of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, State Road Traffic Safety Inspectorate under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry for Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of youth public organizations, mass media, and others took part in the work of the Round table.
56 projects were submitted to the Selection Board approval. Only 12 projects were qualified to be considered at the meeting of the Round table.
The projects were selected by the following criteria: the project up-to-dateness and novelty, compliance of the purposes and tasks to results, economic efficiency, quality of the project description etc.
In comparison with the last year not only number of projects (from 43 up to 56) increased but also the geography of contestants considerably enlarged. Projects were sent from Bugulma, Buinsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Yelabuga cities etc. But Kazan again was the leader in terms of the number of projects.
The selected projects touched on a wide range of environmental problems: “Green framework development of Kazan city”, “Improvement of quicksilver-bearing waste management system”, “Social advertising as the way of environmental culture development”, “Public monitoring of food products quality and realization in large retail chains – evidence from Kazan city” etc.
Within the framework of the Round table the film about careful attitude to the nature, prepared by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, was shown to the participants of the meeting.
The authors of 12 best projects were honored with diplomas, the others were handed over with certificates of the Round Table participants. The winners will be unveiled in a semi-final of the Republican Youth Forum which will take place on November 16 at the State Road Traffic Safety Inspectorate under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan.
