Monitoring of surface waters

The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov took part in one of the ordinary raids of the patrol boat of eco-analytical control “Flamingo” with marine natural complex “Volga-М”.
The acting First Deputy Minister Andrey Kalayda, Chief Executive Officer Rashit Khusainov, and Chief of the Central Specialized Inspection of Analytical Monitoring Andrey Shibayev also took part in the raid.
Since 1996 marine natural complex of eco-analytical control “Volga-М” set up at “Flamingo” motor ship has been brought into production for rivers and water reservoirs condition monitoring. “Volga-M” complex is equipped with the system of dip sensors providing continuous measurement of the key physical and chemical water parameters (temperature, specific electrical conductivity, salt load, oxygen and hydrogen ions concentration, and redox potential) at two depths. The Minister got informed about these parameters online on the Volga River.
At the same time continuous water selection and delivery is made from the same depths to onboard express chemical analysis devices where by means of flowing and injection analyzers pollutants concentration (oil products, nitrate -, nitrite -, phosphate-, fluoride -, chloride ions, ammonium ions, copper, etc.) is continuously defined. “Don” device carries out remote detection of oil products on water surface. The system of ultrasonic intubation carries out bottom research and identification of polluted layers and foreign particulates in the water.
Automated analytical equipment used as a part of the complex makes it possible to supervise (according to both general and concrete hydrochemical characteristics) vast reservoirs water areas located in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.
According to the approved “Plans of measures on eco-analytical control” expeditions on the routes covering all water area of the Republic of Tatarstan are carried out every year. Total routes length makes more than 2000 km.
