The 29th meeting of the ongoing seminar under the Parliamentary Assembly on the issues regarding the establishment of the Union State was held in Brest and concerned “Practice, problems and prospects of the specially protected areas of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation”. The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov and the First Deputy of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Kharis Musin took part in the seminar on behalf of Tatarstan.
Moreover, deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly, representatives of the Permanent Committee of the Union State, relevant ministries and authorities of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, scientific communities of both countries, heads of wildlife management areas and natural parks from various regions and districts of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation participated in the seminar as well.
Participants of the seminar discussed modern state of the specially protected areas of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, as well as tasks and problems regarding their state monitoring. Relevant issues regarding preservation of biodiversity of the specially protected areas of the Union State, problems and prospects of economic activity of the specially protected areas and environmental tourism development were brought up for discussion as well.
Artem Sidorov familiarized with work of environment-oriented authorities of the Republic of Belarus, with the system of organization and handling of waste, and with the course of the “Clean air” operation.
Moreover, participants of the seminar attended an environmental facility of the Republic of Belarus – the national reserve “Belovezhskaya Puscha”, which is regarded as the specially protected ecological area of republican importance. Belarusian colleagues shared their experience regarding preservation and maintenance of unique natural complexes and facilities of the Belovezha Forest in their primeval state.
