UNIDO delegation visit

Today, Artem Sidorov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, held a meeting with the representatives of UNIDO delegation regarding implementation of the project on “Combating desert advancing and consequences of climatic change (shoreland forestation)” on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan with the participation of the Global Environmental Fund and The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

     The following persons took part in the event: Consultant on Industrial Development of Nature Protection Department of UNIDO Christian Susan, Director of the International Industrial Cooperation Center of UNIDO in the Russian Federation Sergey Korotkov, National Project Coordinator of UNIDO in the Russian Federation Boris Melnichuk, National Expert of the International Industrial Cooperation Center of UNIDO in the Russian Federation Anastasia Ananyeva, first Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Kharis Musin, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Andrey Kalayda, Director of the Federal State Establishment “Sredvolgavodkhoz” Foat Mukhametshin and Public Council Chairman under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Anatoly Schepovskikh.

     The meeting was devoted to discussion of implementation of the project on combating desert advancing and consequences of climatic change (shoreland forestation) on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan with the participation of the Global Environmental Fund and The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

     Following the results of the meeting, it was decided to sign a three-party agreement in 2012 on UNIDO project implementation between UNIDO, enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan participating in the given UNIDO project and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.

      Artem Sidorov expressed his hopes for further fruitful and mutually rewarding cooperation between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan and UNIDO for the purposes of enhancement of environmental quality in Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan in general.
