Bird Day in Nizhnekamsk

On March 16-17, traditional city celebration of Bird Day dedicated to the Year of National Identity and History of Russia was held in Nizhnekamsk. In the framework of this event, pupils of the Children’s Ecological and Biological Center met with V.A. Mitrofanov, State Inspector of Trans-Kama Territorial Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, who told them about the measures taken to protect birds in winter.

The Territorial Department together with environmental brigades holds various activities to promote pupils’ awareness of hibernating birds, stimulating their interest in wildlife.

Around 200 children took part in the event, including 6th and 7th graders of Nizhnekamsk City secondary general schools, as well as orphan children and children from the Children’s Ecological and Biological Center.

Children and adults made birdhouses for migrating birds and gave them to the forest division. Following the results of the celebration, the winners were awarded with prizes and presents.
