Board Session regarding the results of work for 2011

Today, the session of the board of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan “On work results of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan in 2011 and tasks for 2012” with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov took place in the IT park.
The Adviser to the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Murad Kerimov, Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the Sphere of Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Svetlana Yurmanova, Head of Lower-Volga basin water management board of the Federal Agency of Water Resources Anatoly Bykov, State Duma Deputy of the Russian Federation, member of the Committee of the State Duma on Natural Resources, Nature Management and Ecology Fatikh Sibagatullin, Chairman of the Council of Municipal Establishments of the Republic of Tatarstan Minsagit Shakirov took part in the session.
Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov delivered a keynote report in which he summed up the work of the Ministry for 2011 and mentioned tasks for 2012.
The following tasks were determined as those of prime importance for the Ministry:
decrease of negative impact on the environment of the Republic of Tatarstan;
enhancement and increase of efficiency of the state ecological control;
provision of appropriate sanitary and ecological condition of territories of municipal establishments of the Republic of Tatarstan;
provision of ecological safety during the preparation for the World Summer Student Games 2013 in Kazan;
activation of the program activity of the largest industrial enterprises and municipal unions of the republic in the sphere of environmental protection and provision of ecological safety;
concentration of financial assets on the implementation of events providing the largest ecological effect;
increase of the level of environmental awareness of the population, involvement of the maximum quantity of citizens into the participation in mass nature protection campaigns.
The Minister mentioned that indicators in several directions improved in the reporting year as compared to 2010. In particular, emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air are reduced by 15.4 thousand tons (2.7%), discharge of pollutants into surface water sources is reduced by 7 thousand tons (7.8%), the volume of field burial of solid domestic waste is reduced by 362 thousand cubic meters at the expense of waste sorting and pressing of their tail piece (14%). Therefore, the volume of the prevented ecological damage made up 2 million 137 thousand rubles.
The Adviser to the Minister for Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Murad Kerimov mentioned in his speech that indicators of control efficiency in the Republic of Tatarstan increased considerably over the last years: the number of inspections and revealed infringements increased, and such measures related to the struggle against infringements as administrative penalties and legal recourses are used more extensively.
In conclusion, the Prime minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov mentioned positive results of the Ministry’s work. The cooperation with large industrial enterprises of the republic was one of its major directions in 2011. Ildar Khalikov distinguished the struggle against unauthorized dumps and further improvement of monitoring systems among prior tasks. Therefore, according to the Prime minister, it is necessary to create an ecological map of Tatarstan and to use unpiloted aircrafts actively. Ildar Khalikov expressed hope for successful solution of all tasks and plans which had been specified that day at the board.
