Let’s keep a clean Kazan

     Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan has completed a project of organization in the city of Kazan recycling of waste of energy saving lamps, home appliances, office equipment and appliances, received from the city's population.

     There was organized 5 permanent and 2 mobile points of gratuitous acceptance of waste energy efficient mercury-containing lamps, home appliances, office equipment and appliances from citizens, including areas of specialized HOA, equipped in accordance with the requirements of normative documents.

As a result of the work there were collected 5.095 thousands of energy-efficient and mercury-containing lamps, 259 units of waste electrical appliances and office equipment, 211 units of household appliances with their subsequent transfer to the disposal of specialized enterprises.

     The project has conducted advertising campaigns among citizens, explaining the environmental hazard of spent mercury-containing lamps and how safe handling of such waste.

     The results of the project will help to substantiate the principles, structure and organization of the Republic of Tatarstan model network of reception from citizens of used energy-saving lamps containing mercury, household appliances, office equipment and appliances with the requirements of sanitary and environmental regulations and develop a plan of priority measures for the development of collection system from the citizens of Tatarstan these types of waste.
