To establish coastline boundaries, improve environmental legislation in the water sector, ensure environmental safety of water resources, determine the boundaries of flood zones. These and other issues were discussed today in Kazan at the round table "Preservation and Prevention of the Volga River" within the framework of the VIII Congress "Clean Water. Kazan." The event was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Lower Volga Basin Water Agency of the Federal Agency for Water Resources. First Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustem Kamalov noted that the topic of water conservation is particularly relevant, since now the project "Improvement of the Volga" has been developed with the aim of preventing pollution of the Volga River. Tatarstan will act as a pilot region for the implementation of this project. The participants of the event told about the measures that can be taken to protect water objects. First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Emir Bedertdinov in his speech noted that forests play an important role in ensuring the ecological safety of water resources. According to him, the creation of protective forest plantations on water protection zones helps prevent water and wind erosion, which will save the water body. Setting the boundaries of flooding and flooding areas is an important factor in addressing water protection issues, as many participants in the round table believe. The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Udmurt Republic Maria Romanova shared her experience on this issue. "In order to determine the boundaries of the Izh River, an analysis was made of the changes in the higher levels of the river and the Izhevsk reservoir within the city of Izhevsk, a generalized hydromorphological and morphometric characteristics of the river were compiled. Taking into account the known total water discharge through the dam, the lower boundary of the lower tail of the Izhevsk reservoir is defined," she said. The research presented by the participants of the round table "Preservation and prevention of the Volga River" was included in the collection of articles that was published following the results of the VIII Congress "Clean Water. Kazan. "
