Hazardous waste in the Kirov district of Kazan. Criminal case initiated

More than 100 m2 of contaminated soil was detected in the Kirov district of Kazan. In the course of a joint inspection by the inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, specialists of the Kazan Prosecutor's Office on supervision of observation of laws at special facilities and the Kazan Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office recorded traces of white crystalline waste. The analysis of the samples showed that the substance is aluminum oxide, a substance that poses a threat of harm to human health and the environment.

According to the case materials, the Investigation Department of the Kirovsky district of Kazan instituted criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 247 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: "Production of prohibited types of hazardous waste, transportation, storage, disposal, use or other handling of radioactive, bacteriological, chemical substances and waste in violation of established rules, if these acts created a threat of causing significant harm to human health or the environment."
