5 tons of used batteries collected in Kazan in the framework of the Year of Ecology

5 tons of used batteries were collected in Kazan in the framework of the Year of Ecology. Used chemical sources of current belong to the 1st class of household waste. They contain tin, mercury, zinc, magnesium, nickel, cadmium, lead, and one finger battery can pollute from 10-15 square meters of soil or 400 liters of water. With the aim of reducing the entry of hazardous waste into the landfills, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan developed a project on collecting and disposing of batteries within the framework of the Year of Ecology. It consists of several stages: organization of collection, accumulation, transportation and disposal of waste chemical sources of current. In the capital of Tatarstan 30 containers for collecting old batteries are already installed – in the executive authorities, large shopping centers and higher educational institutions of Kazan. Specialized containers are located:
- - in the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan (Svobody square, 1),

- in the Ministry of Land and Property Relations of the Republic of Tatarstan (Vishnevskogo St. 26),

- in the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan (Yamasheva Ave. 37a),

- in the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kremlyovskaya Str. 9),

- in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan (Ostrovskogo str. 4),

- in the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kremlyovskaya Str. 13),

- in the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan (3 containers – Moskovskaya str. 55),

- in the Office of the Federal Service for the Use of Natural Resources in the Republic of Tatarstan (Vishnevskogo str. 26a),

- in the Housing and Communal Services Committee of the city of Kazan (Kremlyovskaya Str. 11),

- in the Higher School of State and Municipal Administration of Kazan Federal University (3 containers - Kremlyovskaya Str. 18),

- in the Kazan State Energy University (Krasnoselskaya Str. 51),

- in the shopping center Savinovo (Yamasheva Ave. 93),

- in the shopping and entertainment complex Tandem (Ibragimova Ave. 56),

- in the hotel shopping and entertainment complex Korston (Ershova str. 1a),

- in the shopping center Gorki Park (R. Zorge Str. 11b),

- in the shopping center Port (Orenburgsky Tract 158a),

- in the shopping and entertainment center Frant (Fuchiks str. 90),

- in the shopping center Prospekt (Pobedy Avenue 50a),

- in the shopping and entertainment center Yuzhny (Pobedy Av. 91),

- in the hypermarket Selgros Cash & Carry (Mamadyshsky Tract 32),

- in the hypermarket Metro Cash & Carry (Vakhitova Ste. 4),

- in stores for the house and garmed Leroy Merlin (Amirkhana Ave. 3, Orenburgsky district 174),

- in supermarkets Bakhetle (Yamasheva Avenue 71 а, Orenburgsky tract, 22а, Pavlyuhina Str. 57).

Within the framework of the World Recycling Day, the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan organized an action to collect used chemical sources of current. Those who came to the Ministry with used batteries today, received a gift from environmentalists - live keychain.
The collection and processing of batteries and other garbage is an important part of the waste management field. This process prevents the decomposition of waste, its decay and burning in landfills, thereby reducing the harmful impact on the environment.
