Only 3 meters instead of prescribed 20. Ecologists of Zakamsk administration ordered to demolish illegal construction on Lake Karakul shore

1 November 2017, Wednesday

The lattice metal fence was demolished on the Lake Karakul shore in the Nizhnekamsk District. This structure limited the free access of citizens to the water body. Infringement of the nature protection legislation was revealed by the inspector of the Zakamsky territorial administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan during the survey of water protection zones of the Nizhnekamsk region. Environmentalists recorded that the fence is installed at a distance of 3 meters from the reservoir instead of the required 20. According to paragraph 6 of Art. 6 of the Water Code, a strip of land along the coastline (the boundary of a water body) of a public water body (coastal strip) is intended for public use. The width of the shoreline of water bodies of general use is 20 meters. On this fact, the inspector of the Zakamsk Administration made an administrative report against the offender in accordance with art. 8.12.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (Non-compliance with the provision of free access of citizens to the public water body and its coastal strip) and issued an order to eliminate the violation. The owner of this structure in due time demolished the illegal fence, thereby ensuring free access of citizens to the Karakul Lake. As noted by environmentalists, just this year on the shoreline of this reservoir more than 20 illegal buildings were identified, of which about 10 objects have already been demolished. In the event of failure to comply with the requirements of environmentalists, materials on the facts of unauthorized seizure of the waterfront of the water body will be transferred to the court.
