There is much to learn in Tatarstan, and there is something to adopt. On the example of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, other regions should work, said Anatoly Bykov, head of the Nizhny-Volzhsky Basin Water Administration. Today, the XVIII meeting of the Nizhnevolzhsky Basin Council was held in Kazan. One of the key themes was the rehabilitation of the Volga River. Fatih Sibagatullin, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, noted that this issue is important for all regions of Russia, and a good course was set in the Year of Ecology. “Tatarstan is developing a set of measures for the protection and rational use of the Volga, improving the quality of the river,– said Farid Abdulganiev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. – Inventory of objects of negative impact is currently performed. We express our readiness to implement measures to improve the condition of water bodies and the quality of life of the inhabitants of our republic.”

“There is a positive trend in Tatarstan. The republic is a pioneer in resolving all issues, I think that the republic will preserve its leading positions,” Bykov said. He evaluated projects to reduce the negative impact on the water body as successful, in particular those related to the quality control of wastewater discharges.

The Basin Council is a unique platform for exchanging views on the preservation and improvement of the Volga, the participants of the event believe. In Tatarstan, the leaders of the lower reaches of the Volga met. Today, a number of speeches and proposals on the further implementation of joint activities have been heard. In the near future, the implementation of the federal project will start. “First of all, we are talking about cleaning the watercourse, – said Minister Abdulganiev, – improving and modernizing the treatment facilities. We have positive examples at the largest industrial enterprises, which, in particular, were realized this year, declared the Year of Ecology and Public Spaces by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.”

For reference: This year in Tatarstan, work is underway to define the boundaries of water protection zones and coastal protection belts on 17 water bodies with a total length of 2262.4 km, special information signs are being installed. The clearing and straightening of the channels of two rivers is carried out on sections with a total length of 6.097 km. (r. Tanayka near the village Kolosovka in the Elabuga district, r.Bryssa near the village of Egorievo, Laishevo district). Also in the current year, major repairs are carried out on 16 hydraulic structures.

In 2018, it is planned to implement a number of projects to strengthen the shores of water bodies destroyed during the processing by waters of the Kuybyshev reservoir. Currently, materials are being prepared for the capital construction of coastal protection facilities in Kazan, Yelabuga and Laishevo districts.
