The Minister for Ecology of Tatarstan, Artem Sidorov, was appointed Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage

The Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Artem Sidorov, was appointed Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage.  Artem Sidorov headed the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan since November 2010. Within his service period, he managed to achieve a game-changing level for ecological safety assurance in the Republic:

- a regional element of the system for ecological monitoring was developed, the information on the quality of components of the environment on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan became available to the population;

- ecological surveillance was enhanced, the profile of state inspectors for nature protection in the Republic of Tatarstan was raised, the amount of illegal activities and violations in the field of rational use and protection of mineral resources, in the field of waste management, and in the field of air and water protection was mitigated;

- legislative initiatives of the federal and republican level aimed at strengthening of responsibility for violation of ecological legislation were elaborated and brought to adoption;

- the process of formation and development of the institute of public nature protection inspectors was initiated, a series of mechanisms of civil ecological control such as “People’s control” and “People’s inspector” was implemented;

- a series of large-scale state programs for environmental protection and rational nature use in the Republic of Tatarstan was implemented aiming at reduction of negative impact, improvement of the quality of air and water resources, decrease in the negative impact of production and consumption waste including the program for assurance of ecological safety of Nizhnekamsk industrial hub – the largest center of petrochemical industry in Russia;

- the grounds of “green standards” were laid in the construction field, and they have been successfully tried during implementation of the federal project aimed at creation of a unique Russian city of a new type Innopolis with sustainable ecosystem, and state-of-art residential and high-tech production infrastructure;

- the system for ecological upbringing and enlightenment of the population of the Republic of Tatarstan was shaped anew in the contemporary manner, such projects as the Republican voluntary ecological movement “BUDET CHISTO!”, an open youth contest of social and ecological advertisement “Clear view” and others are successfully implemented;

- ecological support of organizations and technical events was assured during preparation and holding of the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013 and the XVI World Aquatics Championship 2015 года in Kazan.

For fruitful work during his official activities, Artem Sidorov was awarded with a medal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan “For the third-degree distinguished service”, a badge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan “For fidelity to duty”, a medal “In the memory of the 1,000th anniversary of Kazan”, a letter of gratitude of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, a badge of honor of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation “For distinguished service”, a medal of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation “For comradeship for the sake of salvation”, and a medal of the Republic of Tatarstan “For valorous labor”.
